Book Review: Leap Of Faith by Kellie Coates Gilbert
The Kind Of Family Everyone Wants - Even When They Claim They Don't. This series has been strong to this point, but to me, *this* is the story where the family really begins to show its true strength as a unit. The first book in this series was introducing the family via a prodigal tale, the second was team building around a common goal now that everyone was back together. *This* is the tale where everyone is having troubles with their own things... and everyone else comes to help them, even when they may not particularly like what the individual family member is trying to achieve.
This is *exactly* the kind of family everyone wants to have, and that far too many sadly don't, for any number of reasons. The kind of family that even those who seek to "redefine" or even outright destroy the very concept of family ultimately try to recreate their own version of, Frankenstein style.
Yes, if you're looking for "representation"... eh, you won't find that here. What you *will* find is the kind of intense family connection that made the Winslows household names for at least a generation.
If you're looking for ghost pepper level spice... you won't find that here either. What you *will* find is a couple so insanely into each other that an unlocked janitor's closet - that quickly becomes locked from the inside while they're in it - becomes a not-uncommon occurrence, Gilbert simply moves on to another family member after they close the door.
This series has been excellent to this point, but truly, this really is the best entry yet. I can't wait to see where Gilbert takes this series the remaining five books this year.
Very much recommended.
