Book Review: Glow Job by Kristen Bailey

Bailey's Spicy RomCom + Sarah Morgan's Women's Fiction. If you love Bailey's usual spicy romcom... this is yet another of those, and you largely know what you're getting here if you're already a fan. Where this one gets a bit more interesting is that it *also* features an almost Sarah Morgan type women's fiction tale of several different women, each with their own issues, coming together and growing through those issues, in this case over a week long vacation to Ibiza. Bailey handles the combination quite well, showing both overall growth and her (already) strong storytelling abilities.

For the Sarah Morgan fans I've now gotten interested in this book, know that this *is* quite a bit spicier than Morgan's usual, right up there at Carolina Reaper, porn-on-a-page level in certain scenes. (Yes, plural.) With a few other more comedic scenes that will still be enough to give some "the vapors". In other words, if you can barely tolerate the spiciness of a warm glass of milk... Bailey may be a bit much for you, particularly here.

And yet the setting. Perfectly done, with the island itself and its... "colorful"... cast of characters both human and not. Not normally something Bailey includes, particularly the non-human characters, but done very well indeed here and almost lends a touch of the cozy mystery vibe, but without the mystery. Cozy comedy?

For those who despise the third act breakup in romance tales... without giving *too* much away (and it *is* a conventional romance that ultimately follows all known RWA/RNA "rules")... yeah... um... maybe skip this one if it really is a deal breaker for you. :D

Ultimately this was a really well done tale that shows a fair amount of growth for Bailey as a writer, which is always awesome to see. Long time fans will likely love it (though the women's fiction side may not be what they're normally after), new fans will love it (and should go back to read her earlier books you've missed so far). Near perfect as a late summer book in particular, which means its release in mid-July is well timed.

Very much recommended.
