Book Review: Promise Me Never by Liv Constantine

Solid Thriller Ripped From The Headlines. This is one of those "in the moment" thrillers that is eventually going to feel quite dated indeed. Yet on the whole and while still in the moment, it actually does indeed work quite well.

The timelines play well enough with each other, though can get perhaps a touch confusing at times, and the pacing overall works well in both to help drive each other.

The meta commentary here about writing and publishing is always interesting to see both what will be attempted and what the corporate overlords within the publisher will allow, though in this case it does become quite obvious by the end why certain elements were allowed to play out as they did.

Overall a solid and short-ish (sub 300 page) thriller that will be engaging enough yet short enough to work quite well with the kids back in school and you now waiting at various practices or in various car pickup lines, and thus the mid August release - when many Southern schools are already back and many Yankee schools are getting ready to be - works quite well.

Very much recommended.
