Fling or Flung? This was a fun Christmas romance on Hawaii with two visitors who happen to live not far from each other back home. Solid awakening type romance, with pretty well everything expected within that trope – and all executed well. As with any vacation romance, “will they or won’t they” looms large in the back third, and even here Lacy spins a solid tale. Very much recommended.

Christmas Magic. This was a solid tale of two men who both tragically lost their mothers and their paths to finding each other. One man used the tragedy to help others. The other man used it as an excuse to hide. But thanks to some meddling elders and some old fashioned holiday obligations and magic… Excellent holiday romance, very much recommended.

Hallmarkie Christmas Great For Princess Diaries or Downton Abbey Fans. If you hit any of the fandoms listed in the title, you’re going to love this book. Even if you don’t, it is still a solid Christmas romance set in the realm of English nobility and the staff that maintain their homes. Lots of different moving parts to this one, including three four separate intertwining romances – which may be a bit confusing to some, but was easy enough to decipher if the reader sticks with the story. Very much recommended.

Fun and Fast Read. In the second book of the “Nerdy” series (that Dallen officially calls the “High School Billionaires” series), we see the couple from the first book a bit, but the focus is on a pair of secondary characters from the first book: media mogul heiress Jamie and rock god Tieg… except Dallen quickly swerves from the expected to give us a new tale that in a way combines this series with her sport series from 2018 (at least insofar as one of the characters is a major sport guy). Maybe one slight criticism here is that despite the title, the “nerd” qualities of either of the main couple in question are barely if ever mentioned. But beyond that, yet another excellent, fun, mostly light (until the requisite fight near the end), fast read from Dallen. Very much recommended.

The Battle That Never Was. This is a M/M romance that works well. Both men have their own unique histories that make getting together complicated, but it seems that these complications are resolved way too quickly. As is the “battle” that is so central to the premise that it is the title of the book. But the romance itself flows well, and the sex is absolutely NC-17 and fairly plentiful. Solid book, and looking forward to more from this new-to-me author.

This week, we look to a fun, flirty Christmas romance. This week, we look at Shy by Brad Tanner.
This was a fun, somewhat typical, comedy of errors Christmas tale. Very light and breezy read, with excellent chemistry between all involved. You’ve got the classic tightwad. The classic flirt. The classic meddling best friend. Basically, nearly every trope of any Christmas romantic comedy you’ve ever seen. But it works well together, as it was designed to do and as it has done for countless tales for decades, which is why these particular tales are so popular. Does this book break any molds? Not really. But does it give you a few hours of light hearted Christmas themed mirth? Absolutely.
So while this book is arguably best read at Christmas or at any time you want to be in the Christmas spirit, it really is a solid book that does exactly what it attempts to do, and for that it is to be commended. Oh, and just to be aware, since some might try to throw their book when they see it on like page 2: This *is* a MM romance. The meddling best friend is straight, but the couple in question is in fact both guys. But hey, it *does* say that directly on the cover, so if you read more than the cover and still got mad… that’s on you. 😉
