For this next entry in the Twelve Days of Romance blog tour, we’re looking at a book that features both a second chance romance *and* a love angle (there are no love triangles among same-sexuality people)… with a dead man. For this blog tour, we’re looking at His To Defend by Sharon C Cooper.
A Love Triangle With A Dead Man. This is a second chance romance *and* a love triangle – except the third point, the best friend / ex-husband, is murdered in his very first scene in the book. From there, the suspense involves finding out who murdered him and why, even as our remaining two parts of the triangle work through their long-standing feelings for each other and how their relationships with the third complicated this. Overall a solid story on both the suspense and romance sides, and a touch on the shortish side at under 300 pages (which happens to be a touch on the high side of average for the genre, in my experience). Also a Solid Series Starter, for those following my reviews. đ I look forward to coming back to this world. Very much recommended.

âDo you think the break-in is connected to the mugging?â Amina asked.
Maxwellâs eyebrows shot up. If he didnât know better, he wouldâve thought she was a mind reader. Earlier, when he considered the two incidences mightâve been connected, he hadnât planned to say anything to her just yet. But in case they were, he needed to do some digging. What he didnât want to do was scare her, but he also wanted her to be on alert.
âYes,â he said honestly. âItâs too much of a coincidence. Iâm even wondering if that botched mugging wasnât an attempted kidnapping.â
Her hand went to her chest. âIf youâre trying to scare me, itâs working.â
âSweetheart, the last thing I want to do is scare you, but something is going on. Until we figure out what, I think you should stay here. In the meantime, can you think of anything you have that someone might want? A family heirloom? Gold? Bonds? A limited-edition book? Anything?â
âNo, nothing like that. I have a pair of diamond earrings that my parents gave me when I graduated from high school.â
âI might be way off with this next question, but I have to ask. Do you have anything of Jeremyâs?â
She frowned. âNot that I can think ofâwhy?â
âI donât know. I might be way off, but I wonder if any of this has to do with his murder?â Maxwell wiped his hands and grabbed his cell phone off the counter. About a half an hour ago, Danny had texted him a still shot of the suspect.
Maxwell held up his phone to her. âDo you recognize this guy?â
Amina stared at the photo for a few minutes. The quality wasnât great, and much of the manâs face was hard to make out, but she might know him.
She eventually shook her head. âHe doesnât look familiar. Should I know him? Who is he?â
âThe suspected killer.â
